Join us at the Pier, for a powerful International Women’s Day headline event on the 12th March, as we host the screening of 'Squeaky Bum', a compelling new short film exploring the intersection of football and domestic abuse.
Written and directed by emerging actor and filmmaker Alicia Forde and produced by Ethan Deplitch and Megan Cerys-Holland, Squeaky Bum is a 15-minute film that has already made a strong impact. Following a sold-out premiere, the film has been officially selected for the BAFTA and BIFA qualifying festival, Manchester Film Festival, with further UK and international festival submissions underway.
Alicia Forde is an exciting talent to watch, having previously been nominated for Best Breakthrough Artist and Best Actor in a Continuing Drama at the Royal Television Awards North West, Alicia continues to develop raw, bold, original ideas for stage and screen.
Squeaky Bum continues this tradition of bold, socially conscious storytelling and challenges audiences to reflect on difficult but vital issues within the context of the beautiful game.
Content warning: This film contains scenes relating to domestic abuse and sexual violence, recommended for ages 15+.
