Soraya Toukabri crafts a singular musical language where contemporary jazz meets Arabic poetry and North African heritage
This event has ended.
This August, the Global Sounds Series continues its journey across cultures and continents with a powerful evening of music featuring the Soraya Toukabri Quartet.
Between two shores, Soraya Toukabri crafts a singular musical language where contemporary jazz meets Arabic poetry and North African heritage. Rooted in Arabo-Andalusian traditions and the rhythms of Tunisian Stambeli, her work is also inspired by iconic voices such as Oum Kalthoum and Fairuz, shaping a sound world that is fluid, emotional, and deeply embodied.
As a French-Tunisian singer, songwriter, and composer, Soraya blends original compositions with reimagined jazz standards and Arabic classics, creating music that is both intimate and expansive.
On stage, the quartet becomes a space of encounter, where Arabic, French, and English intertwine, where improvisation opens dialogue, and where each piece unfolds like a journey between cultures and memories.
Soraya Toukabri Quartet offers music that breathes, connects, and tells stories across worlds. 🌍✨
Global Sounds Series is a programme curated by Telecoteco Productions in collaboration with Fulham Pier, bringing together world-class artists in a celebration of sound without borders.
